Editorial Policy

This page explains where our data comes from, how we decide what gets listed and how we handle corrections. Last updated September 12, 2026.

Where listing data comes from

Business details are compiled from publicly available sources, including business websites, public business registries and public mapping data. Some information comes directly from business owners who submit or claim a listing.

What we verify

Before a listing goes live we check that the business appears to be real and operating, that it works in the countertop trade, and that the address and phone number are internally consistent. We do not visit shops, inspect work or verify licensing. That part is on you as the customer.

How listings are ordered

Listings within a city or category are ordered by the site, not by payment. No business can buy a higher position. If we introduce paid placements in future, they will be clearly labelled as advertising.

Ratings and reviews

Where a rating is shown, it reflects publicly available review data at the time the listing was compiled. We do not collect reviews ourselves and we do not edit, filter or remove ratings on request. A rating on this site is a snapshot, not a live figure.

Corrections and removals

If a listing contains an error, email info@countertopsnearme.com and we will correct it. Business owners can request removal of their listing at any time and we will action it without asking for a reason.

Independence

We do not accept payment in exchange for a listing, for better placement or for favourable treatment. If a page contains advertising or an affiliate link, it will be disclosed on that page.
