This policy explains what information Countertops Near Me collects, why we collect it and what we do with it.
What we collect
Information you give us
The site has three forms, and each one collects only what we need to act on it.
- Add Your Business: the business name, address, phone number, website, Google Maps link and a description, plus your name, email address and your role at the business.
- Claim your listing: your name, role, work email address, phone number and any note you add.
- Report a problem: what is wrong, your description and, if you choose to give it, your email address.
If you email us directly, we receive your email address and the content of your message.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, our server records standard technical data when you visit: IP address, browser type, the pages you view and the site you arrived from. This is used to keep the site running and to understand which pages are useful.
When you send a form we store a one way fingerprint of your IP address, not the address itself. It is used to stop automated abuse of the forms.
Analytics
We use analytics tools to measure traffic in aggregate. These tools may set cookies. See our cookie policy for detail.
What we do with it
We use the information to publish and maintain directory listings, to check that a person claiming a business really manages it, to reply to your messages, to keep the site secure and to understand how the site is used. We do not sell your personal information.
Business listing data
Listings contain business contact information, which is commercial rather than personal data in most cases. It is compiled from publicly available sources and from what businesses tell us. If you are a business owner and want your listing removed, email us and we will remove it. The email address you give us on a form is not published on the site.
Third parties
The site uses services that may process data on our behalf, including our web host, our email provider, our analytics provider and OpenStreetMap for the maps on listing pages. Payments for the Premium Listing are handled by Paddle, which acts as the merchant of record and receives the details you enter at checkout. Each has its own privacy terms.
How long we keep data
Form submissions are kept while we work on them and for up to twelve months afterwards. Submissions we mark as spam are deleted within thirty days. Contact messages are kept as long as they are useful for handling your request. Listing data is kept while the listing is published. Payment records are kept for as long as tax and accounting rules require. Server logs are kept for a limited period for security purposes.
Your choices
You can ask us what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it or ask us to delete it. Email info@countertopsnearme.com.
Children
This site is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
If this policy changes we will update the date at the top of the page.
